Town Hall Meeting Rescheduled

Nov 07, 2017

Redeemer Family—

Yesterday, we made the decision to reschedule this week's Town Hall Meeting to Saturday, January 13, from 9-11 am.

The reasons behind this are purely practical: the primary reason we are doing so is because I want to be there.

Many of you have heard, but others are perhaps unaware, that I fractured my pelvis on Saturday. My doctors have urged me to lay low for several weeks in order to let bones begin to mend. Thankfully, the injury didn't require surgery but will take some time to heal.

Our Executive Team discussed options at length yesterday—and while I certainly don’t need to be at this meeting, being completely honest, I just really want to be present.

The Town Hall was born, in large part, out of some deep things in my own heart. Though I’m 100% confident our team could share insights, information, and burdens in my absence, there are things from my heart that I would like to share with you personally.

Our desire to reschedule was confirmed by the feedback we heard from many of you—namely, that we scheduled a Friday night event with no childcare and strongly urged you to be present with little lead time to secure the means to attend.

Please know that the urgency of our scheduling came from our joy and eagerness to share with you—not something time sensitive or reactionary. This is why we feel fine pushing it back two months. We will not be announcing any staff transitions or radical shifts in ministry philosophy or strategy.

Rather, we wanted to share with you a renewed passion for the mission that brought us to Kansas City in the first place and some basic changes that we feel need to transpire in order for us to cultivate communities of transformed disciples who live for the glory of God and the good of the city. In short, the focus of our Town Hall has virtually nothing to do with organizational transition or staff changes and everything to do with you—our commitment to you, our prayers for you, and how we want to labor with the Spirit of God and you to see Col. 1:28 realized in all of us.

I don’t want to miss that, and I would love for you to make every effort not to miss it as well.

This has been a unique season in the life of our church, and I’m increasingly thankful for the merciful hand of our Father guiding us through all of it.

I’ve never been more excited about where God is leading us.

I’ve never felt less sufficient for the task.

I’ve never been more confident in the power of our God!

I love you guys! Thanks so much for the prayers! I am eager to see you at this Town Hall (or before)!

Yours in the Greatest Cause,

Kevin Cawley
