Evening Services Cancelled on 1/20

Jan 16, 2019

Redeemer Midtown—

We’re writing today to let you know that we’ve made the decision to cancel our 5 and 7 pm services this Sunday, 1/20.

This decision is the result of two things converging on this particular weekend. First, the Chiefs are playing in the AFC Championship game at Arrowhead, which means many of you will already be planning to attend church in the morning before watching the game with your friends, neighbors, or Small Group.

On top of that, weather forecasts are predicting another 3-5 inches of snow on Saturday, with near-zero temperatures much of the day on Sunday. It’s too soon to know for certain what the road conditions will be on Sunday, but it does seem clear that for many, with weather and Chiefs game combined, Sunday evening would be a difficult service to attend or serve at.

We really value our Sunday services and we hate canceling them. It’s generally our policy not to. But with any strategy we have, we also want to be flexible to respond to what’s happening in our city (and with the weather) and decide the best shape of a given Sunday.

We hope you’ll join us at 9 or 11 am on Sunday morning. Stay tuned to our website and social media pages for any update on the weather: if the snow is as bad as they are suggesting it could be now, we may host “reduced services” without RedeemerKIDS on Sunday morning (you can read about that in the blog post here).

See you Sunday!
