I’m writing today with a fun announcement, and we wanted you to hear it from us before you saw it in the paper. Way back before COVID, we announced that we were beginning the process of selling the Katz Drugstore property located across Westport Road from Redeemer Midtown. For those of you who may not know, we purchased this building in 2012, and for 7 years ran a community arts initiative out of the space.
In 2019, we decided to sell the property. We had a buyer lined up last Winter, but when the COVID shut-down hit in March, both parties decided to step away. Today, I am excited to announce that we are now under contract for the sale of the building! The buyer is a respected developer based out of St. Louis that specializes in renovating and developing historic property. Their plan is to utilize the non-historic sections of the property for multi-family housing, while utilizing the historic Katz structures for potential retail use.
This is a long process, and will likely take about a year to close. As we get closer to closing, we will share more information about the sale price, and our plan for how to invest the proceeds of the sale into our ministry.
