Missionary Commissioning

Nov 01, 2019

On Sunday, 10/20 we had the privilege of commissioning six of our members for overseas missions work.  Bailey Walter, who is serving with Student Mobilization to share the gospel with college students in the Philippines, flew out on 10/23. Andy and Bailey Patton and their two children, Cora and William, will be leaving to serve in French-speaking Togo, Africa with Samaritan's Purse in a medical clinic in January of 2020. They will spend their first year at a language school in France and then transition to Togo for at least two years. And finally, three of our members are currently support-raising to do church-planting in Southeast Asia. Their end goal is to see pastors and leaders raised up in the country who will be equipped to successfully lead the church, allowing the Redeemer team to eventually step away. Please pray for these members as many of them continue to support-raise and prepare for life in very different cultures. Ultimately, we are praying that God would be glorified and lives would be changed as the hope of Christ is shared in diverse parts of the world. For more information on any of our missionaries, please contact skolsto@redeemerkansascity.org.

As a follow-up to the commissioning, you are all invited to hear more from our missionaries at a reception we will be hosting after the 11am service on November 24th. Please save the date!

During the commissioning, we also talked about some different ways we can engage individually with what God is doing around the world.  One of the ways we mentioned is taking a class that Redeemer will be hosting on Thursday nights beginning on January 16th.  Perspectives is a 15-week course exploring the redemptive narrative of the Bible and how God has been and is working to draw all nations to himself and what that means for us as his followers. This is a life-changing class for every believer - not solely for those considering overseas missions work.  To sign up, go to perspectives.org/kcmidtown. Please feel free to email skolsto@redeemerkansascity.org with any questions.
