Season of Prayer & Fasting 2022

Visit

The primary focus of any season, or time, of fasting is to intentionally stand before the Lord in order that we might seek him and ask him to move among us. For many years now, our church has entered each new year in this posture. Our desire has been that, in intentionally slowing down and pursuing him, we might amend our hearts to experience more of him in this season—more of his voice, more of his presence, more of his power, and ultimately more of his glory.

We deeply believe there is no greater thing we could give our time and attention to in this season of our church than prayer and fasting. Fasting is a discipline of grace which allows us to focus our feelings, and their expression, toward God in prayer. Fasting walks arm-in-arm with prayer. Fasting intensifies the earnestness of our prayer and says with our whole body what prayer says with our heart: I long to be satisfied in God alone! Fasting, like the gospel, is not for the self-sufficient or those who feel they have it all together. It is for the poor in spirit. It is for those who mourn; for the meek; for those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. Fasting is for those who see themselves desperate for the face of God.

We would love to invite you to join us for our three-week Season of Prayer and Fasting from Jan. 2-23. You can pick up a weekly prayer guide at our Connections Desk in the lobby.
